There’s so many reasons why I love being an uncle!
Watching my niece, Evelet grow up is without a doubt one of the most rewarding experiences I’ve ever been apart of.
Everytime I see her… she’s an inch taller and can name more animals in her zoo book.
These precious years of her growing up are vital to me. I want to be apart of her memory and a part of her future. This is why I visit my family and her in North Carolina as much as I can. Because one of these days she’s not going to be so little anymore. She’s going want to be hanging out with her friends and living her life… her way.
I often find myself thinking about our future conversations and what we will talk about and how can I inspire her? Because little does she know… she has already inspired me more than any other person I have met.
And I look at my role as an uncle and ask myself… What’s the best that I can do for her?
I’m not her mother, father or cousin…
I am her uncle.. and I want to be there for her when she needs me. I don’t think my job is to put her in timeout or tell her she needs to get her homework done. She will learn all this and more at home and in school.
If anything.. I feel like my job is to help remind her of what she already knows.
New born babies come into this world damn near perfect.. it’s society and the matrix that injects fear into their souls. We need to remind our future children how much they are loved and how to give back to others. When it comes down to it.Β I just want to treat her how I would like to be treated… “Good vibes only”
And I want to teach her jiu-jitsu and self defense so she knows how to handle herself in case a bully on the playground makes the mistake of messing with her. ππ½β―οΈππ½
Thank you for taking these pictures Stephanie!
