Hi everyone! So I just wanted to check in since it has been some time since I’ve updated y’all on life after traveling abroad. The Hoch and I have been staying with my family in Baltimore while trying to plan what is next. We have really been enjoying our time there and to be honest have been quite lazy while soaking up all the down time.
We’ve been spending our days with these cuties:

Well everything is about to get busy for us again as we’ve finally figured out where our next move is going to be.
At the end of the month, we are moving to San Antonio, Texas!
This city (or state for that matter) was definitely not one of the places we were initially considering, but the opportunity came up and we decided to at least check it out. Hoch flew out for a job interview and visited both the San Antonio and Austin office locations. He really liked both, but we decided to go with SA for a couple of reasons. Cost of living is much lower and the airport is a little larger. Austin is a cooler, more happening city, but since the cities are only an hour apart, we figured we could try out SA and visit Austin on occasion when we want to change it up. If we really don’t like it, we always have the option to transfer later.
The idea of living in Texas also took some time to adjust to. We wanted to move west, but were thinking more west coast. At the same time, we didn’t want to leave NY to move somewhere just as expensive. So after a little back and forth, we decided to try it out. Texas is a happy medium in the middle of the country. We can fly back east easily while also visiting new places out west. I also like that the Latin community is huge there! I want to improve my Spanish, enjoy salsa dancing, and love Mexican food. Texas has all of that plus the country, southern vibe (best believe I will go country line dancing)! Only cons (or pros depending on what you prefer) is how hot it gets in the summer and the lack of sports teams in SA (Hoch’s con). Neither of us are NBA fans, but I guess we will have to check out a Spurs game just because.
The next bit of news is also pretty exciting for me. I am officially volunteering to teach English abroad in Chile, South America!!! I will be teaching for a semester starting in less than 6 weeks! Aahhh!!
The timing isn’t the best with our big move, but it is something that I have always wanted to do and know that once I go back to work, it will be for a while. So I’ve decided to just go for it before I find a new job. Hoch is very supportive and is OK with me leaving him in SA for a few months (thank you baby!). I am super excited (and nervous too, but mostly excited) and am really looking forward to the challenge of being a teacher! Reminder: I need to pick my teacher friend’s brains.
So there you have it! We are on to the next chapter and I will definitely keep the blog updated with my experience in Chile (seriously cannot wait) along with sharing our new Texas adventures with you! 🙂
Until next post!
